Video

As I said on Caligirl's blog, I am working on how to put video on these sites.... I think I've got it figured out.. but I need some video to test it.... I was going make a small clip to try.. but I can't figure out how to do it without the Windows Movie Maker... and to get that.. I have to reinstall windows... so it could be a while before I get everything figured out...

The 'No MSN At Work' Rant

You know what?? I think everybody should be allowed to use msn at work, if you work on a computer or the internet.... this being able to run around the internet, but not see who is online is dumb.... maybe I use it too much, kinda like a person who must know what time it is all the time... wait a minute.. I'm a person who needs to know what time it is all the time.. *L* damn... Having to know who is online all the time is definately a compulsive thing.. I mean.. needing to know if this person is online, or if that person is online... if they're close by, why not just pick up a phone and call?? Because that's too friggin simple, that's why!! It's much more fun to type to them... you almost have a little more confidance talking to people that way... or at least, I do.. *L* I'm a little less shy when I type then when I speak.. haven't figured that one out yet.. maybe someday... maybe someday I'll also be able to afford a shrink to figure all this crap out too... you never know...
Of course, I do know the reasoning behind not being able to use msn at work... people would probably be chatting more than working.. which is probably no surprise... I know I wouldn't... but that's because I've worked in two different places that did allow msn to be used... and when things were busy, I'd ignore msn messages that weren't from coworkers... but I'm probably one of few...
You say, "but Riki, you can get a web based version of msn messenger, so you don't have to download it onto your computer at work." Yes, I know this... but the network admin here knows where they are on the internet.. well, the most popular ones anyway.. and has blocked them... so I can't use them either...
Oh well... so no msn.. I guess I'll just have to keep popping into hotmail every few minutes to check for new mail...

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig

Well, I'm home... much quicker than I thought I'd be... I expected to still be in the hospital, sleeping of the anesthsia... but nope.... I guess shit happens sometimes... this is what happened....
Monday, I went to Halifax... at 12:30pm, I arrived at the Infirmary to begin with the pre-admission testing... this entails bloodwork, an ecg, and a nice sitdown chat with a nurse and an anesthetist.... it altogether took about 3 hours.... no big deal... when we were finished, we went over and checked into Point Pleasant Lodge... that evening, bro and I went out visiting, which was part of our plan... Tuesday morning, I went back to the Infirmary at my appointment time, which was 7:45am, the surgery to take place at 9:15am... about 8:am, a nurse comes over to where me and mom are sitting and told us that there were a few snags in the schedule... 1, the doctor who was to do my surgery was called out to an emergency.. which is no big deal, I don't mind waiting when it comes to something like that... 2, they didn't have any beds availible.. and because of this, the surgery couldn't be done, because I had to be admitted... so we waiting to see if a bed would come availible... at about 11:30am, 2 hours after my surgery was to begin (and probably about 15 minutes after it would have been finished as well), we were told that the likelyhood of a bed coming availible was pretty slim, and we had 2 options... go back to the Lodge, and try the whole deal over again the next morning, or just go home.... we decided to go home... I wasn't going to go in, and get myself all ready for surgery again and have it be cancelled again...
So, we went back to the Lodge, and we couldn't get the door open to our room.. mom thought that there might be something wrong with the keycard, so she went down to the front desk to see if she could get another one... they told her that they had locked the door because the parking fee for the day hadn't been paid... a miniscule amount of $8.05.... and we hadn't even checked out yet.... Well... mom got mad.. not a pretty picture... she told them that we were leaving anyway, and to open the damn door.. we had 10 minutes to get our stuff out and be gone.... good thing that when we go to Halifax, we travel light... so we left.. picked up bro at my friend's place, where he stayed the night.... and we were on our way out of the city... Mom actually let bro drive all the way to and all the way home from Halifax... which is a first... On the way home, we near got smucked up by a tractor trailer who decided he was going to pull out and pass another tractor trailer who obviously didn't look in his mirror to see if there was enough room for him to pull into the passing lane (there wasn't, or else bro wouldn't have had to slam on the brakes) or think it was neccessary to turn on his signal light to let us know he was going to pull out... with my dad being a truck driver as well, an argument ensued when we got home about who was at fault... being asleep at the time, I don't know the whole scene, but I believe the guy driving the truck is one of the idiots that give truckers a bad name.....

Well, I guess this'll be my last post for a bit... I'm going to Halifax for some minor surgery... probably won't be back for a week... hope you won't miss me too much.. and depending on which branch of the VG I'm going to, I'll probably be able to check in every now and then... all I ask is that someone plays with Skritch every once in a while.. he can get lonely sometimes...

New Computer Saga, Part 5

Well, Friday was my day off, so I figured that would be the best day for me to go and get that dvd rom put into the new computer, and I also wanted to have the fellow check out why my games are so freaking choppy... I called him in the morning to make sure that he was free to do it, and he was.. so me and bro loaded the computer into the car and brought it down.. I explained to him about how choppy pogo and msn games.. and how I thought that it might be a flaky processor causing the problem... he said ok, he'd check things out for me after he put in the dvd rom drive... so we left, did some running around, then came back... he had the dvd rom installed, but told me that he had no problems connecting to pogo with my computer... said he didn't even try msn zone.. then he tried to tell me that the computer wasn't really set up for multimedia... what a crock... I mean.. what are you going to do with a computer that isn't set up for multimedia?? set it in a corner and make a planter of it??? This guy is trying to screw me over.. and I'm sorry now that I went to a little guy.. even though I usually got better service from them than the big chain stores... he's got one last chance.. if he can't fix it, or refuses to, then I'll make sure you all know who NOT to give your business to in Charlottetown...

Would I Make Good Comic Relief?

hehe.. well, I said I'd probably have another rant... Well, I don't know if this is gonna be a rant until I'm finished.. it'll probably take me another hour to type up.. *L* but that's ok... I don't mind.. gives me something to do between calls when there isn't anything else to do.. like post on PEI Info, or someone's blog.. besides my own, of course...
Well, as you may have noticed, I've discovered a new messageboard.. it is the Amazing Race Guide message board... there was very little on it last night when I discovered it, but today there is a review of last night's show, which was Leg #1 in Season 7... My mom taped it for me, so I didn't miss it, like I thought I would.. and there were quite a few comical bits, but since it was so early in the morning when I watched, I don't remember any.. *L* One that I do remember, is when the mother and son team had to zip line across the gorge, the son mentioned that he was glad that he peed before he got there... I think I might have peed my pants going across that zip line too... they also would have had to bleep everything I said.. because I'm sure there would have been a few explitives....
I've said a few times that I thought me and bro would be a good team on that show.. he doesn't agree with me.. of course, I'm thinking it would be better if I wasn't on dialysis.. *L* but I can bet that me and bro could get ratings for that show.. I mean, the way we talk when we're together.. would be a lot of bleeping involved there too... hey.. we'd be comic relief.. not a bad deal.. bro is usually comic relief at home as it is..
Well, that's all I've got to say right now... but the night is young.. I may have more to say later....

My 'Gotta Work All Dang Night' Rant

Well, it's 1:20am on a wednesday morning... and I'm sitting here at work, doing nothing... sounds like fun, right.. not for me... I like at least having SOMETHING to do.. no one is posting on blogs.. no one is on PEI Info... I can't get to Afternoon Delight from work.. I can't play online games.. I can't use messenger software.. as longs as there is no calls coming in, I've got nothing to play with..
So, I'll sit here.. finish off my froot loops.. I keep a bowl of them handy.. they make great finger food.. *L* and answer calls as they come in... and know that everyone else I talk to has probably gone to bed... I'll do that myself probably around 4am... They say that it's great to be employed this day and age... but I don't know if they were thinking about the hours that I've got....
Something else I need to get off my chest....
The Amazing Race, Season 7 started tonight, and of course, I had to work.. it's repeated on Sunday night, but yet again, I have to work.. so all I can say is that someone had better have taped it for me... or else heads will roll... it's the only show that I watch religiously.. except for the Smurfs.. but I actually have to wake up for that one.. it's on at 8:30am, on Fox... *G*
Anyway, it's taken me an hour to type this up between calls... shows I'm actually doing my job... 20 minutes till quitting time.. WooHoo!!! goodnight...
