It's My Birfday!!!

Well, today's my birthday.. guess I'm gonna have to change my ticker into something else.. wonder what else I can count down to... I'll think of something...
Anyway, my friends at PEI Info had a BBq Meet and Greet/Birthday Party for me today.. what a great bunch they are... it was a good time, as usual.. Well, I'm home by myself, now... think I might set up my dialysis machine and dive into the bottle of champagne that my mom gave me.. Time to fall off the wagon!!!! Cheers!! (hic)

New Song

Well, I was getting kind of tired of that Barenaked Ladies song... so I figured that it was time for a change... So, I perused my song collection, and came across this little ditty.. this song is by a band called the Mudmen, from Ontario, I think.. I saw them play at Myron's a few years back.. kinda wowed me at the time.. When we went into Myrons, the band was standing outside by their van, having a smoke, although at the time, we didn't realize that it was the band.. we only went in for a drink, and didn't really plan on sticking around, but thought we'd stay to see how they sounded.... Well.. it began like this.. two fellas playing the bagpipes came out.. and we thought.. ok.. time to leave now.. *L* but then, they started in on this song.. and they sounded awesome!! Bagpipes and electric guitars.. who woulda thunk it?? *L* We stayed for the whole show... *G*
Enjoy...

Friday in Halifax

Well, on Friday, I had to go to Halifax for a checkup.. not usually a big deal.. however, we were supposed to be there the week before, but we were never told this.. and with all the trouble we've gone through, I didn't want us to be considered non-compliant because we didn't show.. it has happened before, so I had reason to worry...
No one said a word about it to us, though.. but it wasn't an uneventful visit... while looking through charts, Mom noticed the words "on hold" with the date of May 12... at that point, she was on a rampage.. because there was no reason for me to be on hold on the transplant list.. the nurse who was with us told me that it was probably a clerical or communications error.. but that didn't satisfy my mom.. she went and found the Transpant coordinator, who happened to have my file opened, because she was entering some new contact phone numbers that Mom had emailed her the night before.. she verified that I was not on hold on the list.. which was a bit of a relief.. 2 years on dialysis, and only being on the list for half that time, you don't want to screw anything up...
So, with that cleared up, we went to lunch.. I sat in the car while Mom went into the Bargain shop to buy a new shirt.. she has spilled coffee on the one she was wearing... and when she came back, we went into Steak and Stein, my favorite restaurant... then, we had to go back to the hospital... I'm not sure where we went,, but there was a lot of can't get there from here.. it was kinda fun, going around in circles.. at least we were able to laugh at it... it was a good day..

Happy Mother's Day

Well.. it's Mother's Day.. the day to honour your mother.. I hope I've done so.. I mean, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my mother.. of couse, none of us would *G* but she's done so much more than just give birth to me.. between the ages of 12 and 14, I was on dialysis, as I am now.. but she did all the work.. the setting up and stripping of the machine, making sure I took all my pills, took care of all the records (bag weights, blood pressure, temperature, etc).. not stuff that regular mom's would have to do... she still does a lot of it.. stripping and setting up my machine at least 3 times a week, usually more than that.. harping on me about pills, taking the records, keeping track of and ordering supplies.. and lots more... I owe my mom a lot more than just a flower one day of the year.. as I've said before.. we should honour our mother's (and father's) every day of the year, not just on Mother's Day..
As for what I did for Mother's Day.. I went out on Tuesday, with 2 missions.. one, Keith's first birthday.. needed to get something for him.. *G* and, I needed to get my Mother's Day gifts ordered.. Keith got a truck.. *L* but my mother's got roses... I bought 5 long stem red roses, singles... One went to my mother, obviously.. one went to Chrystal's mother, one went to Al's mother (although, any time I've been over to give it to her, she hasn't been home), one went to Natasha (Kenny and Keith's mother) and one went to Chrystal...
So now I have to think of something good for Dad for Father's day... *G*

Phones and Birthdays

Well.. I'm mostly moved into the new place now... is a great place... even have something growing in the flower box outside.. not sure what it is, though... little green things.. *L*
It was such a nice day today.. one of those days where I need a rocking chair on the verandah.. enjoy the sunshine.... still hoping to find one.. tried freecycle.. should probably check that email.. *L*
I went to Aliant today because I wanted to get a phone.. I had my Eastlink phone shut off because I have a bill that I'm having trouble paying.. I haven't had an Aliant phone in 2 years, except for my cell phone... my last Aliant phone bill was run up by my then roomate, who no matter what I said, continued to accept collect phone calls.. $600 phone bill that he'll never pay... dumbass... so except for a pay as you go cell phone, which is costing at least $50 a month, I have no phone... what a pain... at least my internet is paid up... I'd be lost without it...
Work is going good... kinda slow, though..we lost a big client this month.. they are opening their own centre, I guess... meant that we had to close our centre in Pheonix.. so I guess I won't be living in the sun next winter.. oh well... we may have lost a big client, but we seem to be picking up little ones left right and centre... will keep us doing something, I guess.. I'd hate to lose my job because the company went belly up in this semi boom that we seem to be having.. I mean, it must be good if we're bringing in workers from Russia to work in the fish plants, right?? *L*
Vacation and birthday are coming.. that's what I have to look forward to... vacation starts on the 27th, birthday is the 28th... Ahh, birthdays.. the only day of the year that you can get a free meal just about everywhere.. *G* Breakers used to have a free drink and a cd.. don't think they give out the cds anymore, but they still do the free drink thing... gonna have to see what kind of loot I can get.... will let you know......
