An Oldie from the Archives

With Christmas over, and the New Year about to begin, I got to thinking about how things have gone in the last few weeks.... as some of you know, I have been fairly ill recently, and what I was hoping to be a really cool Christmas became very sparse when it came to money and food... well, the worst is over now, and things are starting to get back to normal, but I wonder where me and bro would be if it weren't for my Mom... she and Dad made sure that we didn't go without over Christmas... and it got me thinking about an article that I posted here back in 2004, and I thought I'd repost it, as a tribute to my Mom, and all mothers....

Make it Mother's Day every day...

Oh man... another sleepless night... I seem to have a lot of those lately... dialysis keeps me awake at night... pain in the butt, I'm telling you.... after 15 years of kidney problems, I've never had such problems with dialysis before... oh well.. I see the nephrologist soon... maybe the transplant team will finally decide to put me on the transplant list.. then I won't have to worry about this crap anymore... All I've got to say is thank God for my mom... she does half the stuff that I should be doing... she tears down the machine, because I don't like to do it... most of the time she sets the machine up for me too, even though that's supposed to be my job... she does my dressing for me.. which is something I couldn't do if I wanted to... Yep... I'd be totally lost without my mom, I'm sure of it.... I tell her this all the time too.. but she don't think she's doing anything special..... I'm telling ya... Thank God for Mom's....

Have a Safe and Happy New Year.. if you're drinking tonight, cab it home, or get yourself a DD... make sure your friends and family have a Happy New Year too... because you're still here.....

My Christmas Wish List 2005

Dear Santa,

What a year we've had. 2005 was pretty good for a change. I think that the world has made some progress over the last year, but there's still much more that we could do to make this planet a better place. So, Santa, this is my Christmas Wish List for the world for 2005.

1. I wish for the exploitation of children, for both sexual and monetary reasons, both here and in other countries, to become a thing of the past.

2. I wish for the terrorists of the world to be touched by the light of their God, and realize that what they are doing is wrong so that the many troops and peacekeepers from Canada, the US, the UK, and other countries can finally go home and be with their families.

3. I wish that no child will ever have to go to bed hungry again.

4. I wish for those who must live on the streets to finally have a warm, loving home to go home to.

5. I wish for Industry and Big Business around the world to realize that we only have one planet, and we must do more to preserve it for future generations.

This Christmas season, I pray for the people of Southeast Asia, who are still rebuilding their lives a year after the tsunami destroyed everything they knew. I also pray for the still displaced people who lost their homes in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida to hurricanes this year.

Personally, I don't ask for much, just the good health and prosperity of my family and friends, strength to get through the hardships of life, and the wisdom to find the humour in those hardships, because no matter how hard things can get, if you can't laugh, especially at yourself, then life can just get too stressful, and nobody needs stress at any time of the year.

Have a Safe and Merry Christmas Everyone

Another Cut Throat Update

Sorry I haven't been around to keep things going... I've been sick again, and was in hospital for 5 days.. I missed a lot of what was going on too, but I think I've gotten myself caught up again..
Cut Throat Island... Challenge Six, Christmas Gifting... I've done this one before.. and had fun with it... going to ebay and trying to find the perfect gift for someone.. I was going to do this one and post it here, but well.. you know how that goes... the Knights won this one with the Habs jersey they found.. it was a practice jersey, and not a game jersey, but it was still better than Minagoo's Human Bean figurine....
In Challenge Seven, the teams were dissolved... and the challenge was to write a history of the world in 200 words, no more, no less... I liked Paella's.. it rhymed.. immunity in this round was given to everyone who submitted and entry... there were 3 who did not.. Whiner, Designchick, and Darmiccah... although, I haven't seen anything from Darmiccah since the game began... I don't know if this person is even playing the game.. Well, by Tuesday, we will know which of the 3 will be cut.. hopefully the players will be fairly smart and vote out the player that says nothing...
There is talk of a break until after Christmas... the decision hasn't been made on that yet either... will let you know...

CutThroat Update

Well, the votes have been cast, and johndenver has been voted out.. figured that would happen.. thing was, it was a tie between him, and frdalton.. they each received 2 votes, but since johndenver wasn't able to play anymore, he was given the tie breaker.. oh well.. on with the show.. Challenge Six should be posted Saturday..

Cut Throat Island Update, among other things

Sorry I haven't been around guys.. been sick again.. trouble with the old blood pressure.. I'm hoping I'll be back up before the weekend.. I've got Christmas parties to go to.... Anyway, back to CutThroat..
I missed Challenge four and five because of being sick.. I didn't even bother turning the computer on.. so I don't really know what's going on.. AndrewPEI was voted out for Challenge four, but then, only three of his team mates voted... Sorry Andrew... hope you do better in elections on January 23rd..
I believe a vote was also made for Challenge five, but there was a twist in play.. player johndenver has been banned from the site, as he's been recognized as a former troublemaker... he was starting to be a current troublemaker, which made the powers that be on the site check him out... so, johndenver is no longer in the game.. players know this, so they'll probably just vote him out.. we won't know who's getting their throat cut until tomorrow (well, today if you check the time.. *L*) evening.. I'll update then..
So, is anyone following the Canadian Federal Election?? I've been watching very closely.. I've had an interest in politics since I was 10 or 11.. I don't think I could ever be a politician, but I like criticizing them just the same...
so, here's my criticisms, starting with Paul Martin... Ok, Paul.. what I've seen so far, not bad I guess... the Child Care plan looks like it could work.. but I don't see a ban on handguns working too well... I don't like handguns... I don't see a real point to them for law abiding citizens, but I guess there are some who want them... I think that if you ban these guns, they'll still be on the streets, because they're already being smuggled into Canada from the US... there will just be more smuggling.. and what's the point of putting more border guards on if they won't be armed to protect themselves from these smugglers?? And are police officers going to have to give up their guns?? Geez, I hope not..
Ok.. Stephen Harper, your turn... 5% GST... good for the middle to upper class earners and businesses.. but what about those low to middle class earners who rely on the rebates to make ends meet 4 times a year?? My mom actually used to use hers to pay my dad's life insurance after her Child Tax Credit ran out... she doesn't get enough out of it now to bother.. my bro and I love getting our $50 every 4 months... it means an extra treat with the groceries... how about cutting income taxes instead? Oh, and your Child Care Program made me cringe... give an extra $100 for each child under the age of 6... I can see so many meal ticket children that will be born specifically for the parents to get the extra $100 a month to buy booze and drugs.. and the kids will be neglected... just gives me shivers...
And Jack Layton... well, I haven't heard you announce anything really... just rebuttles to the liberal and conservative plans... you need to come up with some of your own, bud.. I'm starting to think about voting for the green or marijuana parties just so that I'm not voting for the big three...
And now.. an election pet peeve...... what is with that stupid commercial that's meant to convince the younger voter to vote?? It doesn't really say anything!! just says to vote... that's not enough guys... you've got to explain why the young person should vote.. young people feel alienated by government.. because we're rarely listened to... a lot of my friends say why bother voting, because it doesn't really mean anything... if you did a commercial explaining why it's important to vote, maybe you'll get more young voters...
Anyway, I'm done ranting now..
