First bootlegger rant, and probably not the last..

I'm so sick of hearing all the crap about the bootleggers in Charlottetown... mind you, I don't have a problem with them myself.. I do frequent one of them on a regular basis... I'm just tired of all the bellyaching... it seems that the only reason that people are against them is because they are illegal... there are lots of things that people do in this province that are illegal.. I mean.. how many people are driving around PEI right now without a driver's licence? without registration? and especially without insurance?? This is all illegal, but people do it... the same with jaywalking.. it's done all over Charlottetown.. but I don't know anybody who was charged with it... If the only problem that people have with the bootleggers is that they are illegal, then why not legalize them?? It makes perfect sense... everybody would be happy... and if they left business hours the same as they are now, the people who live around them wouldn't even really have to worry about noise, because most of them are cleared out by 11pm... the thing is, they wouldn't be able to leave their bars where they are at this exact moment.. because they are in residential areas... so the owners of these bars would have to find another building to put their establishments... probably no where near the area they are in now... I believe one owner is actually doing this.. he has another building that's not in a residential area.... can someone tell me the reason why someone can open up a corner store in their home in a residential area, but not a bar??

Guess what?! My mom finally gave me a key to the house!! I know it's not a big deal, but it is to me.. last week, after coming home from a Christmas party, I had to call my mother with my cellphone in order for her to let me in the house.. I got to the door and it was locked... I thought this key was rather cool because.. well.. I'll just have to show you..... take a look... Isn't it cool???

My Christmas Sadness

The Christmas season appears to be upon us again... too soon if you ask me... it doesn't seem that long ago that the snow was melting and the weather was warming up.. now it's getting cold again... I've been to one Christmas party so far... I have another next week... my parents have three to go to... I don't know if I'll go to any others... my Christmas shopping is almost done as well.. I only have one gift left to get.. and that one is for my mother... I don't know what to get for her.. I'm sure I'll think of something before the 24th.... this is one of the three. times of the year that I feel sad.. the other two are around the first of October, and the other is around Victoria day... why do I feel sad these times of the year you ask?? Well, I'll tell you... I had my first kidney transplant on the first of October, and my second on the 22nd of May... on these two days, one in 1992, the other in 2001, a family lost someone they loved.. I imagine that these families miss the ones they lost at Christmastime too... I sometimes wish that I knew who they were, but I'll never know... I'm not supposed to know... it's a shame that some have to die for others to live.. I wonder if they can see how their death is bringing new life to others... more than one person.... it's one of the many things that I ponder...

McCain's Poutine -- Review

I saw a bit on the news the other night about this new product from McCain's... It was a ready made frozen poutine... Now, I've never been to Quebec to have real poutine, but I like the stuff that you can get around here... What I saw on tv was Quebecers who didn't like this new frozen poutine... I thought, hey.. I like poutine.. I'll try it..... Now I know why Costa Konstantinou of Warwick, Quebec spit it out... the stuff is nasty..... The gravy, I'm not sure what it's made of... I think it's just a bunch of spices thrown together into some kind of sauce.. but it had a very prominant onion taste to it... the cheese had no taste to it, and it hardened into the form of the dish that it came in after it cooled a bit... the fries crumbled, as most do after they've been microwaved... frozen french fries just are not made for the microwave.... I had to put it back in the microwave twice because it got cold very quickly... It wasn't put together very well... the gravy was on one side, the cheese on the other, and the fries in the middle... and since the cheese hardened, there was no mixing it together... I don't think I'll be purchasing this product again... and if I want poutine, I'll just go get one from Harvey's...
