Another Update

I know I haven't been around much.... but I've been busy working.. *G* I love being employed.... I've also been working on one of my webpages... we had a couple of big storms here in the last two weeks, and I got some great pictures... they're posted on this website... have a gander, and take a look at the kitties, too... they're my babies... *G* Question for you all.... does anyone know where I can get a computer to put my old hard drive in?? the drive is 12gbs in size, and it has Windows XP Home installed on it... I really want to get it up and running again, because there's about a thousand songs on it that I'd like to get back.... I haven't had the money to get it going until now... anyhoo.. I'm kinda short for time at the moment... I'll update again soon........

Just checking in...

I know it's been a while since I last posted anything... but I've been busy with my new job.... *G* I started on Tuesday... and since then I just haven't had much time to come on here and say a whole lot... I have been around to the message boards, and I have visited other blogs.... so it's not like I'm not still around... just haven't had a whole lot of time, or much to say for that matter... oh well... PEIInfo.com Meet and Greet on Sunday... as long as it's not too stormy, I'm there... I haven't been to a Meet and Greet in a couple of months... in fact, the last one I was at was in October... I like going to those little parties... it helps put a face to the name you've been talking to... some people may not like that, but I do.. I love meeting new people and making new friends... Anyway, its late, and, as far as I know, I have to work in the morning, so I"m gonna head out.... laters....

Riki's Year in Review.. 2004

I got this off of Jenn's blog... I thought it was a neat idea, so I thought I'd steal it.. *LOL* I hope you don't mind, Jenn... *G*

My Year in Review

1.What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Now, that's a good question.. I really have to think about this one.. considering that my life is pretty boring.. there isn't really much that I haven't done before.. I went to Toys R Us for the first time this year.. that would also be the first time I went shopping with the Beairsto's.. and hopefully not the last...

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions.. mostly because I just can't keep them.. it's like making a promise to yourself and then breaking it... pointless.. so I gave it up...

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.. my best friend's brother and his girlfriend had a baby this year... a boy.. who is going to be spoiled rotten by everybody.. *L*

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, not this year..

5. What countries did you visit? What trips did you take?
I didn't go anywhere this year, unless you count the numerous trips to Halifax, and my shopping trip to Moncton..

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
I was hoping for a job, but I don't think that's going to pan out... but maybe, if I plan things right, I might be in university, studying for my business degree, this fall...

7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 30, The day I had my surgery to have my catheter for dialysis inserted
May 25, The day I actually started dialysis
December 19, The day the music died.. er.. I mean.. the bootleggers closed

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't think I achieved much this year.. but I didn't really set out to achieve anything either...

9. What was your biggest failure?
I think my biggest failure would be not getting any of the jobs that I applied for this year, even though I had several interviews..

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well.. I started dialysis for the third time in my life.. *L* I suppose that counts..

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I think the best thing that I bought this year was my dad's Christmas present.. it was a 1:6 scale model of a Ford 427 single overhead cam engine.. it was a big surprise for Dad, because he went to buy one and they were all gone.. he just didn't know that I bought the last one.. *EG*

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I don't know if anyone's behavior merited celebration.. but this is only my opinion..

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
George W. Bush, on his visit to Halifax... he said that the visit was mainly to thank Canadians for our help to the Americans during the aftermath of September 11th.. and when he spoke to the people in Halifax, he spoke of the war against Iraq, and how Canada should get behind the US and support their invasion... sneaky..

14. Where did most of your money go?
Up in smoke... *LOL* no, not really.. the majority of my money was spent on my internet account, computer crap, and other frivilous things..

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
That's a hard one too... considering that I get excited when Mom says that she's making ham and scalloped potatoes for supper... *L* I guess I was kind of excited about going to see the Stanley Cup... on the way up, all the signs were saying "this way to Brad Richards" and I didn't give a rats ass about Brad Richards.. I wanted to see the Cup...

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I think 2004 sucked musically.. nothing really stands out..

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? I don't know if I'm any more happy or sad.. maybe a little more stressed, though..
b) thinner or fatter? Definately thinner.. I actually lost 4 kilograms over Christmas.. for anyone who's wondering, that's almost 9 pounds..
c) richer or poorer? I'm a little poorer, but not much.. this time last year I was still drawing pogey..

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Well, I guess I wish I'd gone to the bootleggers more, since they're closed now... and maybe a little more travelling.. to see my grandmother in Nova Scotia..

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying over stupid stuff..

20. How did you spend Christmas?
I spent Christmas the same way I always do.. with my family at my mom's house.. me and my bro stayed up pretty late.. Santa Claus came and went before we went to bed... *L*

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
I don't think so.. I think it's more of a crush than love..

23. How many one-night stands?
Huh? What's that?? *L* Don't make me laugh..

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The ones that I watched and still watch religiously are The Amazing Race, and Judging Amy..

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No... I don't really hate anybody.. I can make it look like I do at times, but I don't..

26. What was the best book you read?
I'm not sure what books I read... I'm still getting through my Anne Rice vampire books.. and they're all pretty good..

27. What was your greatest musical rediscovery?
Probably Shania Twain... I haven't really liked much of her music since the Woman in Me cd.. but I like Party for Two...

28. What did you want and get?
An all in one printer/copier/scanner... I had a scanner before, but when I took my computer in for servicing a few years ago, somebody stole the port for it out of my computer...

29. What did you want and not get?
I wanted a toy for Christmas.. I got a chessboard.. not exactly what I had in mind..

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Shrek 2, Big Fish, Garfield... Faherenheit 911 wasn't too bad either..

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was in Halifax, training to do my dialysis... I forgot it was my birthday until the dialysis nurse that was training me gave me a card.. it was a friday, so at the end of the day, we drove to New Glasgow, NS, to spend the weekend at my grandparent's house... It was my 26th birthday..

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not being on dialysis through the summer... I hate not being able to go swimming...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Hmmm... I tend to live my life in PJs....

34. What kept you sane?
The medication... *LOL* just kidding.. the companionship of my family and my kitties, for sure..

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm.. John Kerry, Jack Layton, Micheal Moore.. can you tell I tried to follow politics a bit this year?? *L*

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Umm.. see the last question.. *L*

37. Who did you miss?
The usual suspects.. Chrystal, Coleman..

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Kristina.. she's funny... and her son is soooo cute...

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.
Hmm.. just because someone is there to help you, it doesn't mean that they are trustworthy..

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
But we all know the way it really is.. you don't get recognized for doing things like this.. you spend a lot of time feeling sorry for yourself.. it doesn't really mean that much to anybody else..

Happy New Year, or is it??

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I hope I wasn't missed too much.. I've been a little busy with the holidays, and I kinda left this site behind.... but I'm back now.. *G* I was to two Christmas parties, and I had a non-existant New Year's party here... nobody showed... some party, huh?? trust me.. my friends are going to get a swift kick in the butt from me on that one.. oh well.. life goes on... hey.. it's 2005... We made it through another year, guys!! That's something to be thankful for, especially since so many didn't make it to the new year in Asia and Africa... My heart goes out to anyone who was affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis that occured on Boxing Day..
Well, it's official.. my local watering hole was closed on December 19, due to the new legislation that came out that week against the bootleggers.. I've read lately that there is a lawyer in Charlottetown that believes that the new law probably wouldn't stand up in court.. I wondered about that... I mean.. should the legislaters be able to say that the police can enter any home without warrant because the occupants are suspected of bootlegging?? Does that mean, that if I happen to be having a party, with a lot of liquor being consumed, and the police believe that I am illegally selling that liquor, whether I am or not, they can enter my home, arrest me, and seize everything I own, including my home?? Doesn't that go against the Canadian constitution?? Even if it isn't, I know I would definately feel violated, and an apology from the police would not suffice... there would be lawsuits involved for sure... Am I wrong in feeling this way??
Now, I know I'm probably in the wrong for supporting the illegal bootleggers and frequenting their establishments.. but I can't help but wonder if this new legislation isn't going to hurt some innocent people who might be accused of the crime, even if they are not guilty of it...
